Introduction :
Hi to all blender fans and users. It's nice to talk to you and I'm very glad to share something within this wonderful society .Before i start I'd like to thank all blender developers and users who accomplish great job by spreading blender allover the world .
Special thanks to Ton who made all this real and i owe to him a lot and i think all blender users allover the world too.
After these few words i can begin my article.
When i started using blender i tried to use Arabic letters but unfortunately i found that blender is not fully equipped by the tools to append Arabic scripts.
I found the problem in two things :
- Right to Left characteristic of Arabic.
- Arabic Letters are connected to each other .
The same problem i faced in some softwares like 3d Studio Max and Old versions of Photoshop .I overcomed it by using programs which has its own fonts .These fonts are Latin fonts in origin but there characters are replaced by Arabic characters and inverse the order of the sentence letters to be from the left to right.
I could use these softwares but the problem it can not used with Linux platform .It's for windows only .
So , i found a better way which will be compatible with all platforms by simulating its work using BLENDER and these fonts directly. You can download these fonts from Here .
These fonts are extracted from Al-Waseet Software programed by Elwy Ba-Faqeeh who i owe to him alot of thanks for his effort. This program is freeware you can download fromHere .
Lets Start :
Start Blender....
You can remove the default cube by X Key .
By Spece Key Selectfrom Menu Add > Text .
Use Backspace Key to remove the default "Text" word .Notice that your mouse cursor must be within the area of 3d view Window to get effect.
In the Button Windows use Load button to use one of our new fonts. You can browse to fonts folder ,you extracted fonts into , and choose W3DIWANN.TTF .
If you try to use Arabic Layout of the the keyborad directly , you will find different letters and order.
Display "Char "hidden frame by clicking on its title .
You can use "Numpad + " with mouse cursor in the Button Windows area to display characters in larger size .Also you can increase the area of Button windows by left clicking with continouse pressing on the border between this window and 3d View Window when the cursor becomes with two head and move this border up .
I'm going to write the sentence" Moon Light ".
To write it correctly we have to reverse the order of the letters , like i mentioned before , as we write Latin text , to be:
You noticed that i wrote the letters with there extensions .When you browse the characters in the font by pressing "D" button in the "Char" frame , you see letter "LAM" for example has 4 shapes :
So , you will append these letters by clicking on the wanted letter from the character table .
If u browsed the table before , return to the beginning of the table by pressing "U" button in the "Char" frame till you get "0" in upper right text box .
Click on "D" button once to get number 74 .Then click on connected "RAA " letter in the third row , the second square from right .
Then click on "D" button another time to choose the two side connected "MEEM" from the fifth row the second from left .And two side connected "QAAF" from the square upper to "MEEM" letter . And terminal connected "LAAM" fourth row ,fourth column from right .
Return to the beginning of the table by pressing "U" Button .Choose "ALEF" letter from the last row 7th square from right. You will get the second word "The Moon" or "Al-QAMAR"
If you want to increase its size display "Font" frame and change the value of "Size" to whatever value you want .
To add the other word put the mouse cursor in 3d View are and press Space Key .
Press "D" button twice to select "HAMZAH" in the last row , third square from right .And connected letter"WAW" from the last row , the first from left .
Then press "U" once and choose connected "DHADH" from fifth row the second from left to get the whole sentence.
Use TAB Key to shift to object mode and save your work using Ctrl +W Key.
If you render the scene using F12 Key you will notice separations between letters and that due to letters interference .
To deal with that we have to convert Text object to Curve using Alt + C Keys and select curve.
Zoom in using mouse wheel to the separation line between letters. You will notice you have two lines separated by space .
Select the points of one line and grab it to be adjusted over the second line .
Repeat that to all other letters.
You can Add a bevel to the words and thickness by changing values of "Extrude" and "Bevel" Text Boxes in "Curve and Surface " Frame.
Thats all my friends. i hope you enjoy and understand this tutorial .
